Change GIF Speed makes an animated GIF play faster or slower without touching its frames — entirely in your browser. Pick a multiplier from 0.25× (four times slower) up to 4× (four times faster) and the tool rewrites every frame's delay, then re-encodes the animation locally. Because only the timing changes, no frames are dropped or blurred and the result stays just as crisp as the original. Frame timing is stored in centiseconds and floored at 20 ms — the fastest most browsers play reliably — so extreme speed-ups settle at a sensible minimum. There is no upload, no watermark and no sign-up, and your GIF never leaves your device — the privacy-first alternative to ezgif and other upload-based speed changers.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I speed up or slow down a GIF?

Upload your GIF, choose a playback speed — for example 2× to play twice as fast or 0.5× to play half as fast — then click Apply speed and download. The new timing is applied to every frame and re-encoded in your browser instantly.

Does changing the speed lose any quality?

No. Changing the speed only adjusts how long each frame is shown; the pixels are untouched, so no frames are dropped or blurred. Each frame is re-encoded with its own 256-colour palette to preserve fidelity.

Why won't my GIF go any faster?

GIF frame delays are stored in hundredths of a second and most browsers will not play faster than about 20 ms per frame. When a high multiplier would push delays below that floor, the tool clamps them to 20 ms so the animation still plays smoothly everywhere.

Is my GIF uploaded to a server?

Never. Reading the frames, rescaling their timing and re-encoding all happen locally with JavaScript in your browser. Your GIF is not uploaded, there is no sign-up, and the tool works offline once the page has loaded.
