How do I change an image to 300 DPI?
Upload the JPG or PNG, pick 300 from the presets or type any value, and download. With Keep the pixels selected the image data is byte-for-byte identical and only the resolution tag changes, which is exactly what a printer or a submission form is checking.
Does changing the DPI make my photo better quality?
No, and any tool that suggests otherwise is misleading you. DPI describes how large the image should be printed, not how much detail it holds. A 600x400 photo tagged at 300 DPI simply prints at 2 by 1.3 inches. To gain real detail you need more pixels, which is what an upscaler does.
What is the difference between the two modes?
Keep the pixels changes only the tag, so the file size and image stay the same and the printed size changes. Keep the print size rescales the image so it still prints at the same physical dimensions at the new DPI, which means the pixel count goes up or down.
Why does my file say the DPI is not set?
Many PNGs and screenshots carry no density field at all. That is not the same as 72 DPI, so we report it honestly rather than inventing a number. Choose a DPI and download, and the file will then declare it.
Can I change the DPI of a WebP or GIF?
No. Those formats have no standard field for print resolution, so there is nothing to write. Convert to PNG or JPG first, then set the DPI here.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read and rewritten in your browser with JavaScript, so it never leaves your device. That matters for the scanned documents and IDs people most often need at 300 DPI.
