Measured by uploading fixtures to this page in a real browser and reading the JPEGs it produced with Pillow, which had no part in making them. Default settings throughout: quality 85, white background. Two limits worth stating. The fixtures were written with ag-psd, the same library this page reads PSDs with, so these numbers describe the CONVERSION — flattening, colour, transparency, size — and not compatibility with the many ways Photoshop itself can write a file. And one file in the set is a caution rather than a result: a PSD whose stored composite is blank converts to a blank JPEG, with a measured error of 0.0 against that blank composite, because the converter faithfully uses the composite it was given. If Photoshop saved without "Maximize Compatibility", that is what there is to work with. One more thing that would have produced a wrong answer: Pillow's own PSD reader mattes partial alpha against white before handing it over, so comparing the tool's output to Pillow's PSD read shows alpha being ignored. It is not. That is why the transparency row was checked against two different background colours instead.
